Code of Conduct
Standards of behavior for the CYP community at events and online.
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Cheyenne Young Professionals is committed to fostering a welcoming, professional, and inclusive community. This Code of Conduct applies to all CYP events, online spaces, member interactions, and volunteers representing the organization.
Our Commitment
CYP brings together emerging leaders to connect, learn, and serve Cheyenne. Every participant deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued — regardless of age, background, industry, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or experience level.
Expected Behavior
We expect all community members, guests, partners, and volunteers to:
- Treat others with respect, courtesy, and professionalism
- Welcome new members and help others feel included
- Listen actively and engage in constructive dialogue
- Respect personal boundaries and consent in networking interactions
- Honor confidentiality when sensitive business or personal information is shared in trust
- Follow event venue rules and instructions from CYP staff or volunteers
- Represent CYP positively when participating in community service or public-facing programs
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are not tolerated at CYP events or in member channels:
- Harassment, intimidation, or threats of any kind
- Discriminatory language, jokes, or imagery
- Unwelcome sexual attention, advances, or physical contact
- Deliberate misgendering or deadnaming
- Disruption of events, programs, or online discussions
- Sharing another member's private contact information without consent ("doxxing")
- Using the member directory or event attendee lists for unsolicited sales or recruitment
- Intoxication or substance use that impairs safe participation at events
- Retaliation against individuals who report concerns in good faith
Member Directory & Networking
The CYP Network exists to help members build genuine professional relationships. Use directory information responsibly. Cold outreach should be professional, relevant, and respectful. Repeated unwanted contact may result in account restrictions.
Reporting Concerns
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it as soon as possible:
- Email: [email protected]
- In person: Speak with a CYP board member or event volunteer
- At events: Contact the event organizer listed in the event details
Reports may be made anonymously where permitted by law. CYP will review all good-faith reports promptly and confidentially to the extent possible.
Enforcement
CYP may take appropriate action in response to violations, including:
- A private warning or mediated conversation
- Temporary suspension from events or online channels
- Revocation of membership or event registration without refund, where applicable
- Permanent ban from CYP programs
- Referral to law enforcement when required
Board members and volunteers are also subject to this Code. Enforcement decisions are made by CYP leadership with fairness and consistency.
Scope
This Code applies to CYP-sponsored events, official online properties, member portal communications, and situations where an individual is representing CYP in an official capacity. It may also apply to conduct outside CYP activities when it directly affects community safety or organizational integrity.
